How Does the Process Work?

Vis Moot Atılım runs two teams side by side: the VMA Team, which competes in that year’s Willem C. Vis Moot, and the VMA Preparation Team, which trains candidates for the following season. The two feed each other — the competition team is selected in the fall semester, and next year’s candidates receive their foundational training in the spring.

How the two connect

From the Preparation Team to the VMA Team

  1. It helps, but it is not a guarantee.

    Being on the Preparation Team means you enter the fall selections prepared; it does not guarantee a place on the main team. Every candidate is assessed against the same criteria.

  2. The preparation course is recommended.

    Learning the foundations of arbitration and the Vis Moot in a structured course over a semester is the best preparation for the English interview and the teamwork that follow in the fall selections.

  3. Applying directly is also possible.

    Any student who meets the requirements (usually 3rd–4th year, C1 English or above) can apply to the fall selections, even without having been on the Preparation Team.

  1. 2nd year · Spring Join the Preparation Team

    Apply for the preparation course interview; take arbitration basics and Vis Moot training through the semester.

  2. 3rd year · Fall Apply to the VMA Team selections

    Application form, transcript and an English interview. Those selected start the season when the team is announced.

  3. October – April Live the season with the team

    The problem in October, memoranda in December–January, pre-moots in February–March and Vienna in the spring. At the end of the season you become part of the VMA alumni network.
